Seeking International/Mango Tree Ministries
Mission Statement Seeking International/Mango Tree Ministries is a relationship based ministry seeking to keep the command of the great commission of making disciples. We are committed to sharing God’s love in both word and deed, based on the commands given to us first by the letter from Paul to the young Pastor Timothy which directs us to preach the Word, and also the words of James who tells us that faith without works is dead. Our desire is to share the words and love of God and His Son Jesus to the point that many will hear and choose to accept Jesus as Savior. We share God’s word in many forms. We distribute portable devices such as Proclaimers, Audio-bibles, and Storytellers, which have the bible in audio form on them, in the languages they are comfortable hearing. Also sharing the message of Jesus through distribution and showing the Jesus video, in their familiar language. We use many different resources all of which contain God’s word and teachings from the bible to share God’s love and His offer of Salvation through Jesus. It is our desire to get the words of God into the hands and hearts of all we can so they will hear the message of Salvation and decide to follow Jesus. We also have bible study times and gather in fellowship to share God’s word that believers can grow in God’s knowledge and wisdom. We also seek to share God’s word and love, in deed. We seek to be diligent in helping the people unto whom we are sent to minister. Assistance is provided by recognition of need beyond the ability of the individual or group in need. Such need can be, but is not limited to; food/clean water insecurity, health/medical needs, agricultural needs, family assistance, and education assistance. It is our goal to provide assistance with limited disruptions to the economical well being or sufficiency of the family or individual. Seeking International/Mango Tree Ministries is an independent ministry based solely on God’s word, the Bible. We believe God’s word is the only static truth and that the truth of God’s word is forever and unchanging. We believe the Word of God is alive and active, able to pierce the hearts of the lost bringing life to a mankind shrouded in the darkness of spiritual death. We believe God’s word is without error. We believe salvation is in Christ alone, saved by grace through faith. We believe that the saved are God’s craftsmanship created to do the good deeds He has predetermined for us each to do. Works are neither a basis of nor a condition to salvation, but are a manifestation of God’s love in us as a result of God’s Spirit indwelling us in Salvation. Seeking International/Mango Tree Ministry is solely funded by the contributions of people faithful to answer the call of God to give to His work through this ministry. We believe all is from God, and that He uses His people to give according to His good mercy for the provision of His ministry. We thank Him for giving to us and we thank our contributors for being faithful to Him for answering His call to donate to us.
Agriculture
In Niger there is massive problems with food insecurities due to poor farm crop growing conditions. These conditions are caused by low rainfall amounts and poor land and soil conditions that are not conducive for good crop production. These conditions exist from flooding that occurs many times due to sporadic rainfall, and from deforestation that has altered the rain patterns and the soils nutrient values. In the areas of Niger where we concentrate our ministry, nearly 100% of the people are reliant on farming for yearly food supplies. Low crop yields are the primary reason many migrate to the coastal regions to seek work in order to have money that will allow them to purchase food staples like rice, millet, maize, and beans, that will offset the food insecurity. We have helped the local farmers purchase water pumps that will help extend the growing season, especially when the river is low in the early growing season. They can also pump water from the river during extended times of limited rainfall to aid in crop growth. Each year, we try to help with fertilizer purchases in order to maximize the crop yield. Soil revitalization is a primary concern and we see the benefit to helping them establish more nutrient rich soils. We have seen this create a more stable food supply in the areas we have assisted. In the bible we see many references to agriculture used to speak understanding to the people who are subsistence farmers. We see many opportunities to share truths in God's word through agriculture. Helping families provide for themselves is beneficial and helps give us opportunities to share God's love and provision to them.
Education
Mango Tree ministry is dedicated to helping the families of our Missionaries and those we minister to, get a quality, Christian education for their children. We provide funding for families to send their children to Christian schools, or schools where Christian values are taught and observed, when no actual Christian Mission school is available. We provide school fees, books, and uniforms for the children, based on the financial needs of the families. We also try each year to help the schools in some villages with the resources they need to provide a quality education for the children in their village. It is our desire to see these children able to read with comprehension, in order that the bible is not a closed book to them, they will be able to read with understanding. It is our desire to help the village schools, in order that we may be able to share with the whole village in God’s goodness through His written word. For the village schools it may be simple needs like chalk or pencils, sometimes they need help with lighting so they can have evening classes to allow older students and adults to come after working in the fields during the day. This provides so the can learn in the cool of the evening after a long hard day in the fields.
Family
Family is of utmost importance to God. We see many occasions in His word where He instructs us on the importance and value He places on family. In His word we see admonition and instructions to every member of the family, fathers, mothers, and children. Mango Tree Ministry takes family seriously as well. We are a whole family ministry. We strive to be encouraging and supportive to each member in the family. Helping teach and train each family member to know and value the role God has given them in His order of family. Understanding the roles and responsibilities of the family members helps build stronger and more stable, supportive churches. We can be there to help families in a multitude of ways. We want to help in ways that encourage them in Christ to be faithful members of strong families that encourage each other and are supportive in the difficult times such as when persecution comes. From bible studies that help define God’s roles for each member of the family, to helping families that have specific needs, such as rental assistance to medical assistance, we desire to show them the strength of Godly families. From assistance with healthcare to help with housing, food assistance to school assistance, we want to walk with our families to share God’s love and goodness with them. A strong healthy family is more likely to be involved in the ministry of making disciples within the extended families and also in their communities.
Healthcare
Mango Tree Ministry believes that we are called to help people with physical and mental health needs. Helping individuals or families when a family member with a physical or mental health ailment is in need, is to touch the heart of that person and their family. We try to help by providing them with anything from basic first-aid and first-aid supplies, to helping with hospitalization, medication, recovery and overall wellness and hygiene. We have over the years helped countless people with malaria, cholera, typhoid, and other diseases get necessary medications needed for recovery. We have helped and provided for hospitalizations, prenatal care, and surgeries, from fistulas to cataract surgery, broken bones to internal bleeding, and other emergency care. We have provided assistance for drug and alcohol abuse, and we have helped many get transportation home when home was the best medicine. We have provided preventative healthcare assistance in the purchase of mosquito nets, insect repellent, soaps, and other healthcare related resources in times of need such as flooding and other natural disasters.
Nutrition and Food Assistance
Adu received a message from a man in a nearby village. The man told how a rain storm brought devastating flood waters and washed away his crops and destroyed all of his remaining food supply that was to last his family until the harvest. They had resorted to boiling grass and leaves from the ruined and failed crops to have any food to eat. They were becoming severely malnourished and hopeless. God had provided for Mango Tree Ministry, that Adu was able to find rice, millet, and other staples, such as oil and vegetables, necessary to sustain the family until they could get on their feet again. Request for assistance like this are not uncommon. In God’s word, we see the desire that we help those in need, we are told that even if our enemy is hungry we should feed them. Feeding the hungry, providing the essential food for life is something we take seriously at Mango Tree Ministry. We understand that food is for the body, and we also understand our role and mission to provide the bread of life! Through helping with food for the body in times of need, we are given the opportunity to share the Gospel, to share the bread of life. Whether single families or whole villages and surrounding areas, we seek to provide for the needs of people unable, at that time, to provide for themselves. We seek to help people by providing for immediate needs during times of crisis. Food and water security is a vital part of our mission.Matthew 25:35For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink…
