statement of faith

... and beliefs

Seeking International/Mango Tree Ministry does believe and hold the following doctrinal views;

Scripture:
The bible is God's Holy and inspired, breathed, Word.  The Word of God in Scripture is authoritative and is our only means given by which we teach, train and disciple.  The Word, Logos, is alive and active, knowing the thoughts and intentions of man. No other works of literature or words are given by Holy inspiration, therefore the canon of scripture is set in the 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament. The Word of God is infallible, inerrant, immutable, and eternal.

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.   2 Timothy 3:16-17

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.   Hebrews 4:12

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Ephesians 6:17

The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.  Isaiah 40:8

Forever, O Lord,  Your word is settled in heaven.  Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;  You established the earth, and it stands.  They stand this day according to Your ordinances,  For all things are Your servants.  Psalms 119:89-91

Creation:
We believe God Created the earth in six(6) 24 hour solar days. The creation is exactly and truly as described in the account in Genesis. Mankind was created male and female only. Marriage is between one(1) man and one(1) woman only.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Genesis 1:1

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  Genesis 1:27

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.  Genesis 2:24
God:
We believe in the One true eternal God.  We believe in the Trinity of God, as Father, Son, Holy Spirit. God the Father exist in Oneness with Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. One Deity, in Three(3) Persons all eternal, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, Holy and Righteous, eternally, infinitely, and totally Loving.

“I AM WHO I AM” *  Exodus 3:14
This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.  Exodus 3:15b
*YHWH, derived from the Hebrew verb, HAYAH

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.   John 1:1-4

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:14

God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”  John 4:24

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.   John 14:26

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
John 4:7-8

Salvation:
We believe Salvation is only accomplished by Grace through faith, not by any works of man, but by the atoning work of Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection, by the shedding of His blood as the final sacrifice for sin. Jesus' perfection was the goal of the law and was the satisfaction of sin for all who believe.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.  John 14:6

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.   Ephesians 2:8-9

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.  Romans 5:1-2
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
1 Timothy 2: 5-6

The Church:
We believe the church is the ekklasian assembly of believers as the One true body of believers united in the Oneness of God. Local assemblies, or churches, are to be in koinonian fellowship, in active participation in study of the Scripture, encouraging one another in good works, living in communion with one another, in prayer, in the Oneness of God the Father.  The church should be, as part of the koinonian fellowship and communion of believers, actively baptizing new believers and in observance of the Lord's Supper. Teaching of scripture in the church should strengthen and train disciples in right living and how and why to also make new disciples. The church should be active in evagelization and the Great Commission.

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
2 Timothy 4: 1-2

...and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.   Hebrews 10: 24-25

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.    Acts 2: 41-42

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.  Ephesians 4: 4-6

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28: 18-20
